Three tier schools - first, middle and upper. Ages - middle schools took pupils age 9 to 13

Two tier schools - primary and seconary. Ages - secondary schools took pupils from age 11 up.

Move to three Tier

In the 1960s Bradford moved from the 2 tier system to the 3 tier system. This was permitted under the Education Act of 1964.

Move to two tier

From September 2000 Bradford schools moved from the 3 tier system to the 2 tier system. This was implemented by making significant changes in the use of schools.

Hoyle Court First School changed status to Primary School.

Glenaire First School changed status to Primary School

Baildon Church of England First School, Jenny Lane. Changed status to Primary School and moved to what was the Ladderbanks Middle School site.

Sandals Primary School, Cliffe Avenue. Change status to Primary School and moved to Belmont Middle School site.

Ferniehurst First School - closed 31 Aug 2000[1]

Tong Park First School - closed 31 Aug 2000[2]

Ladderbanks Middle School - building refurbished, the school known as Ladderbanks Middle School closed 31 Aug 2000[3] and Baildon Church of England Primary School moved in.

Belmont Middle School - building refurbished, the school known as Belmont Middle School closed 31 Aug 2000[4] and Sandals Primary School moved in.
